Hello. My name is William. My favorite subjects are gym, computer lab, music, and art. I like to watch tv at home and play video games. I am really good at video games and I beat a lot of levels. I'm learning basketball. I can dribble and make some baskets. I can't wait til the writing celebration today! That's all for now, folks! Have a greaaaaat Friday!
Hi! My name is Colin. I am really good at football, soccer, and hockey. But I'm still learning to ice-skate. My favorite subjects are science, math, and gym. I can't wait until we learn about doing multiplication! In science, I liked how we balanced a crayfish on the tip of our finger and the pencil trick. We're having a writing celebration today. I wonder what its going to be like. This is Colin, singing off!
On Friday, we went to the Detroit Zoo for a field trip! We practiced using a real map to get to all the places we wanted to go there. Some of us saw the polar bear, the eagles, the kangaroos, the gorillas, the flamingos, the prairie dogs, the tiger, the wolverine, and the lions. It was an incredible day! When we got back, we had more excitement! We had a jogathon assembly and we won the Golden Shoe! We even had a Smarty Party that day.
Click here for a video of the polar bear playing in the water. It was amazing! We are having a Smarty Party soon! In our classroom, there is a bucket. When we fill it up with Smarties, we get to have a SMARTY PARTY! We can earn Smarties to fill the bucket by being super helpers, by being a good example in the hall for younger students, and by getting compliments from other adults in the building. We also earn them when we work hard and show Mrs. Freeman we are ready to learn. Our Smarty Party will be this Friday! We can't wait!!!!!
On Monday, we had a treasure hunt in our classroom. First, we made a map of the room and all the furniture in it. Then, one table of kids went out in the hall to wait. Then, Mrs. Freeman hid some treasure in the classroom. We put a treasure chest on the map in the place where the treasure was hidden. Then, the kids came in and used the map to work together and find the treasure. We made the treasure hunt harder and harder for each table. And that's the story of the treasure hunt, matey! Arrrrrrrrrr!
Hi. Hello. How are you? I'm Ruchir. I really like to read and write. When I'm reading, I feel like I could read all day long! When I write, I feel like I need to write a story instead of writing just ideas. I really like to go to play stores like Jeepers and Chuck E. Cheese's. And I always like to play with my favorite things and my favorite friends. I hope you have a good day. Bye!
On Monday, we went to the Computer Lab and we learned about xtramath. Xtramath is a website that helps you get extra math skills and build up your FACT POWER! It gives you problems and you have to put the answer in quickly, before ten seconds are up, so you can get a smiley face. You even get to race the teacher! We all tried our best, and Mrs. Freeman says we will use it in math workshop and we can even do it at home. You can do it anywhere you have a computer!
Hello. My name is McKenzie. I'm good at dance, and I'm in competition. I like it because there are five judges that watch you. I haven't been judged yet, but I hope I win! Also, I like science. Today we did a mobile. We had to use straws, paper clips, paper, and rubber bands and put them all together to make one big thing that balances. It was a CHALLENGE! But it was fun because we got to decorate it when we were done. And that's all about me.
We've been learning about different kinds of communities. One kind is urban - that means a city. We imagined what it would be like to live in an urban community. We decided where we would live, work and have fun if we lived in a big city. Today, we had a visit from King Community, a reporter from WRBN Uuuuuuuuurrrrban Television. He interviewed some of us about living in an urban community. The rest of us will get interviewed this week. Stay tuned for more urban news!
Hi! I'm Abhinav. My favorite thing about second grade is science and drawing pictures. I'm writing a story about going to the zoo. I like math a lot. I am good at regrouping. I also like to go outside. Well, goodbye!
